With YOUth in mind

Project supported by the Bristish Council and the Youth in Action programme of the European Commission.

PRESENTATION OF WITH YOUTH IN MIND:

The project With YOUth in Mind will allow us to mobilise six young Europeans from Sweden, Czech Republic, Spain and Hungary to join our community based placements for 11 months and hopefully make an impact with their active participation and creativity on life of British children and youth, through involvement in leisure, art, environmental and sport activities, while consistently sharing the European awareness.

The projects included in this aplication are: South Parade Baptist Church (SPBC), Thorner Pre-School and School, Roundhay St John’s School, Bradford Environmental Education Service (BEES) and  Leeds Youth Service. The type of EVS projects will include volunteering with chidren & youths (some of them coming from disadvantaged background) aged 3-19 through non formal learning, with particular focus on sport as tool in inclusion and informal education and emphasis on environmental awareness and promoting healthy lifestyle.

The activities that the volunteers will be involved in will bring intercultural element into local communities of Leeds/Bradford and expose local youth to European flavour shared by long-term volunteers in non formal sessions and workshops that include the volunteer being creative and gaining confidence within the chosen field particularly through possibility of developing a personal project. The learning outcomes and development is key to each placement and have been identified further on in the application.  The methods to ensure learning outcomes will be achieved through the use of the Youth Pass tool.
