SKIP (Peru) Newsletter

'' Fingers crossed, as SKIP is applying for grants from the EU which will cover vthe costs of sending volunteers over to Peru and generate funding for the project.

As some of you may recall, we have been working as part of the Youth In Action Programme, via a contract with the UK based organisation Everything Is Possible. the contract started in January 2010 and will run until the end of 2011.

The programme has been extremely beneficial for SKIP and we have received both human resources, and funds. We have developed a great working relationship with Everything Is Possible. As a result, we have received 10 EVS long term volunteers, so far, 8 are still in Peru at time of writing this newsletter, with a further 4 allocated places for people who will arrive later on in the year.

Read about one EVS volunteer's experiences in SKIP on the Volunteer Blog

We also have one volunteer coming for 10 months from a seperate  successful contract application with the Youth Exchange Agency, a sending organisation based in Lithuania. This will be our first Lithuanian volunteer and we are excited to welcome her to the project in a few weeks time.

On February 1st Two new applications will be submitted, one with Everything Is Possible and the other with the Spanish Organisation AFEMJO-CLM. If approved, the volunteers will start arriving from September. We will find out by May if the applications have been successful.''
